Vietnam Manpower successfully recruited more than 100 fitters and welders in the first recruitment campaign for Shipyard Repairs Company in Bahrain.

Shipyard Repairs Company has over 30-year experience in successfully undertaking and completing all types of modifications, (damage) repairs, conversions and upgrades. They can upgrade units to modern operational and safety requirements and convert such structures for operations worldwide. The Company can undertake any project, large or small. They can carry out repairs to pipe-laying vessels, crane vessels, well-intervention vessels and flexible fall pipe vessels, as well as seismic and diving support vessels.

Shipyard Repairs is a powerful provider of project management and specialist tradesmen and can supply its services around the world. Projects range from bespoke solutions to fabrication, marine engineering, maintenance and rig repair.

In 2 continuous days of trade test, Vietnam Manpower was in charge of recruiting 100 qualified welders and fitters. Besides, we were looking for some foremen who have international certificates in welding with excellent specialized skills, good English skills and leadership skills to manage Vietnamese teams of tradesmen when working abroad.  Selected candidates would go to work for opening projects of Shipyard Repairs Company in Bahrain.

After 2 hard-working days of carrying out the trade tests and conducting interviews, we successfully selected 100 best candidates and foremen as required with the happiness of workers and satisfaction of two representatives.

The trade test was divided into 2 parts:

Shipyard Repairs group hired Lloyd's register Vietnam (accreditation unit, welder evaluation, and International certificate) to check the welder directly. Each welder must pass must pass 4 tests of 3G, 3F, 4G, and 4F according to the ISO standard. After achieving Lloyd's visual results, the welding samples were transferred for RT test (Radiography test). After that, the samples to achieve the result will conduct sample breaking for inspection under the witness of the Lloyd testing. Candidates are qualified after going through the above test steps. After that, a professional welding certificate will be issued to the best workers and they can work on site in Bahrain immediately. In terms of Fitter testing, the employers provided drawings, workers will read the drawings, measure, mark and cut according to drawings. Although the tests were very hard and under the close supervision of the representatives, 95% of workers overcame all the test stages. Before starting the competition, employers gave introduction about their company, working condition, as well as benefits when working in Bahrain. Moreover, in order to ensure absolute safety for workers, the company provides workers with protective clothing of international standards, ensuring workers in the best environment.

The first part was welder test. The welding process was strictly organized and closely monitored by Shipyard Repairs Company’s technical representative. As a result, the quality of the workforce of the selected final workers was ensured and highly effective in the workplace.

Fitter was the final examination .To perform this test well, all candidates had to gain proficient experience and understanding of drawings. The test consisted of cutting, grinding, attaching and fixing the pipe parts together. The tests was rigorously assessed and evaluated according to the standards and quality of the technical drawing. Employers based on criteria for scoring and selecting the best candidates.

Within two days of the recruitment test, the result brought Bahrain market a large number of skilled workers, good working attitude and high productivity with over 100 employees. This time was a successful collaboration between Shipyard Repairs Company and Vietnam Manpower.
