With the witness of the two Prime Ministers, Minister of Labor-War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung exchanged “Memorandum of understanding on recruitment, employment and labor repatriation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Malaysia" with Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.
The above Memorandum of Understanding is a continuation of the first Memorandum of Understanding on recruitment of Vietnamese employees between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of Malaysia, signed in December 2003 and renewed in August 2015. Since then, about 100,000 Vietnamese employees have come to work in Malaysia. Currently, there are about 8,000 Vietnamese workers working legally in Malaysia, concentrating mostly in the manufacturing and construction sectors, the rest in the service sector (serving in restaurants and hotels, entertainment areas, casinos, sales at stores, supermarkets), domestic help, agriculture.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed for the third time, which is an important milestone for the good human resource cooperation relationship over the past 20 years between the Governments of the two countries, it is the legal framework for recruiting Vietnamese workers to work in Malaysia.
On the basis of this Memorandum of Understanding, the sending of Vietnamese employees to work in Malaysia will be closely implemented, the management agencies of the two countries will actively coordinate in activities related to Vietnamese laborers work in Malaysia.
