At 15:30, 31st May (Vietnam Time), Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, his wife and the high-level delegates came to Houari Boumedienne International Airport, stared the official visit Democratic People's Republic of Algeria.
The delegation included Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Van Nen, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, Vietnam Ambassador in Algeria Vu The Hiep with the leaders of many ministries.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his wife were welcomed by Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, Minister of Industry and Mining Abdessalem Bouchouareb, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Ambassador in Algeria Vu The Hiep, Vietnam Embassy Officer and Representatives of Vietnam Community in Algeria. The official welcoming ceremony Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the high- level delegates of Vietnam Government had been organized with solemn ceremony at the airport.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, his wife and the high- level delegates placed wreath at the Monument of martyrs and visited the Veterans Museum.
During the official visit, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, talked with Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, met Senate President Abdelkader Bensalah, visited International Exhibition Algeria 2015, attended Dialogue Vietnam-Algeria Business, met some huge businesses of Algeria, and visited officers, Embassy’s staffs and Representatives of Vietnam Community in Algeria.
Vietnam and Algeria established diplomatic relations on 28th October 1962. Algeria is the first country in Middle East Africa establishing with Vietnam. Over the past time, the cooperative relative between two countries still has developed well, two countries regularly have exchanged delegations at all levels. Two sides always support mutually in international forum. Vietnam has supported Algeria for election of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination for women in the term of 2015-2018, election of Conventions protecting the cultural heritage of UNESCO intangible in the term of 2015-2018. Algeria also has supported Vietnam for election of
UNESCO's Executive Board in the term of 2015-2019. Two countries committed mutual supporting in the Council of Economic and Social Affairs (ECOSOC) with tenure.
The official visit Algeria of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is to strongly promote the traditional friendship relation, develop cooperation in all fields such as economy, trade, and expand in all fields having potential, especially cooperative exploration and exploitation of oil and gas.
The bilateral trade relation between Vietnam- Algeria is still modest, reaching over 380 million in 2014, not commensurate with the potential and desire of the two countries. The major export items of us to Algeria are coffee, rice, mobile and types of component
About investment, until now, Petro Vietnam Exploration and Production Company (PVEP) has implemented successfully two exploration projects and found oil in Algeria.
Cooperation between two countries about finance, expert, health, culture and sport still develops well. Nowadays, there are about 1200 Vietnam workers exporting to Algeria and working for construction projects in here.
