According to a survey by the recruitment company Accountemps, more than 52% of workers in the US admit they can't keep calm at work. However, experts have pointed out a few tips to help people overcome up set at work:
Reduce pressure while moving
If traffic jams or train delays often make you up set, job expert Vicki Salemi of Monster recommends clearing things up by phone or staying positive.
You can save your 5 favorite photos from a recent vacation and open them up when you're feeling stressed or sing along to some fun songs. If commuting causes frequent discomfort, you can ask to work from home several times a week.
5 minutes for cooling down
You shouldn't take your angry on other people, says Raffi Bilek, director of the Baltimore Psychological Counseling Center. Instead, you can cool down your angry by going for a walk or taking a cold shower. Alternatively, you can call someone for a few minutes. If your condition still hasn't improved, you can take a leave of absence or join an after-hours yoga class.
Talk to close friends or colleagues
“An important way to manage angry is to have one or two friends at work to talk and confide” says Bilek. "The purpose is not to badmouth your boss, but to share your frustrations with someone who can understand you."
Tell yourself why are you there
When you're feeling frustrated, tell yourself what your purpose in this job. It could be a passion, earning money to support a family, or seeing your work as a means to pursue a true passion.
Enjoy life outside of work
"Without the pleasures in life, people who experience frustration at work will have no choice but to think obsessively about their problems and conflicts," says expert Richard Martinez. Free yourself by listening to music, exercising, reading, taking care of plants or going to a nightclub.
Identify the cause of your anger
You won't find a solution until you identify the cause of your anger. If a colleague makes you uncomfortable, one effective way is to stay away from the person. If work is overwhelming due to temporary problems, tell yourself that everything will be back to normal in a few weeks. In case this situation continue, you should discuss with your manager for the best solution.
