Viet Nam seeks to send more workers to Germany

Viet Nam proposed Germany to boost bilateral labour co-operation which allows more Vietnamese to work in German, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on Tuesday.

Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung made the suggestion during meetings with authorities of federal state Baden-Württemberg and Ministry of Economics Affairs, Labour and Housing Construction on the side of his visit to Germany on September 24.

Dung also said that Viet Nam attached special attention to labour quality and sustainable development after the signing of EU-Viet Nam Free trade agreement in June.

The minister asked Germany to sign the co-operation agreement on career training and receiving of labours including nurses between the Directorate of Viet Nam Vocational Education and Training and Germany's federal state Baden-Württemberg’s Ministry of Economics Affairs, Labour and Housing Construction.

"We are focusing on the career education because it is very important to improve labours' skill and help them to increase income. Viet Nam highly appreciate career education corporation with German", Dung said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Economics Affairs, Labour and Housing Construction Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut noted that Viet Nam was an important partner of Germany. Besides, Immigration Law of Germany would come into effect since March 1, 2020, which would facilitate the receiving of labours from non-EU countries including Viet Nam, he said.

Germany recently has great demand for workers, especially nurses, according to Department for Oversea Workers Management. Approximately 1,000 Vietnamese nurses has been recruited to work in Germany so far.
