1. Your boss is the person who has the most influence on your perception of the company
Your boss's attitude towards the company and how they treat you will determine your overall view of the company.
While corporate culture is an important factor, but the managers are play a key role in that culture.
You can work in a place with a great corporate culture, but if your boss is a toxic person, it doesn't matter.
In my current position, I have worked with 4 bosses and each gives me a different feel about my company. If you work with a positive manager, you will be active too. But if they are always complaining or talking badly about the company, you tend to turn negative.
At the interview, if you have a bad impression of the employer, you should quit that job or reconsider your decision. Or if you are in this situation, I think you should make a plan to leave your current job as soon as possible.
Think carefully before every career move and strategize for long-term goals rather than chasing a high-paying job in the short term.
2. Changing jobs too often
If you decide to switch jobs for a higher salary, consider work-life balance when it comes to increasing working hours.
If you are doing a job that pays $60,000 for 40 hours and want to switch to another job that pays $80,000 for 50 hours, that's not an ideal salary. Especially when you are someone who values time.
I recommend that you only change jobs when you want to change the corporate culture environment, or want to learn new skills and find advancement opportunities, not just for the salary.
If you change jobs too much, you may get in trouble if your qualifications don't match the salary paid.
Imagine you are doing a job with a salary of 100,000 USD but you do not have enough skills and experience, that is a disaster!
3. You can lose your job at any time
A lot of people are taking the position you're sitting in, so work like you're about to lose your job. Always appear confident but never complacent or autocratic.
To some extent, we may be replaced by someone else. However, this is not a negative aspect but a reminder for us to work well and constantly learn to develop ourselves.
4. Don't work where you're the best
If you're the best at work, you're not in the right place. It is difficult to learn and develop a career if there are not people who are better, more experienced and smarter than you.
Don't get me wrong, mentoring others is very rewarding and it makes you a great leader. It's good to be the best, but who will tell you what to do next?
5. Plan for the future
The best thing you can do to improve yourself is to figure out your financial need.
Once expenses like rent and meals have been paid, you can use the remaining money for the things you want to do next.
Until then, you should use the money to fulfill future plans instead of spending it on things that interest you. A new world will open up if you achieve your goals.
Although there are many more lessons that I want to share with you, these are the 5 lessons that I love the most.
Whether it is today, tomorrow or in the future, the working environment will always affect us. If you want to work and grow, keep learning and finding new opportunities!
