1. If you could change a few things at your company, what would it be?
If you ask directly "why did you quit your job", it will put pressure on employees and it will be easy to give dodged answers such as inappropriate, under pressure, busy with personal work. Instead, ask advice questions, employees will feel appreciated and their opinions are considered. This makes it easier for them to give honest and close sharing. From here, you will receive specific feedback on the backlog in the way of working, the corporate culture or the office environment. Because sometimes insiders are not as bright as outsiders.
2. What do you like most about your job?
While the main goal of the exit interview is to get constructive feedback, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be asked for positive highlights. Understanding what employees like (be it creative, enthusiastic colleagues, friendly environment …), you will know what to promote to make your successors and other employees feel more comfortable and work more efficiently.
3. Has your job description changed since you were hired? Change how?
We are all so caught up in our work, so it's not surprising that employees think their jobs have changed since they joined the company. Get the information they provide to update the job description before starting the hiring process. That way, you can be sure you're looking for the right skills to fill the vacancy.
4. Can you share anything more to help improve the company/department you work for?
An open-ended question will encourage employees to offer opinions on topics you may not have thought of, including things you don't want to hear. However, these may be painful issues that need to be rectified as soon as possible in order to maintain the operation of the enterprise apparatus. Therefore, it is better to bring itall to light to make the necessary changes.
5. Can you introduce someone you know to apply for the company?
Usually, you will get the answer “Yes” because everyone wants to leave peacefully. Therefore, you should ask more "Why recommend?". This question will help businesses understand what are the strengths to attract and retain current employees. Because many policies, although meticulously built, there are still many "loopholes" that reduce the interest of employees because they do not see the benefits from it or do not understand it. Therefore, you need to find out the real cause to improve or replace if necessary.
