So, how were they shiftless? In their job, cut their work time like come to work late? Or they never put any efforts for company? Always based on others to hide responsibility? Anything else?
To change this situation, the manager needs to have a conversation with staff. Talking will help you understand about the reasons make them change, in other way, the reasons to keep them just like their first start.
1. Who just has a change.
If you only judge and ask about their job exactly what you see, consequences may not be as expected. When you see any signs of it, the only way is put them into the right position. If a staff has been moved to another department or another work, they maybe don’t like the new job or new colleagues, which turn down every motivation and productivity.
2. Who never changes
Sometimes, they stand still and their work is becoming boring. Have a warm talk to them to check there are any vacancies to move. Many people just need a little obstacle, the work will be done faster with high quality because they are passion and love their job.
3. Who don't want to change
Other kind who seems never wants to try or put effort for company. To resolve this, you need to encourage them by some awards for active person to provoke their competition state. Let them know your company always appreciates what have been done, compliment them in public such as in company’s meeting, give them a small gift which could be anything like tickets at a restaurant, or a day-off.
4. Who almost cannot change
For those who waste all day for a job others just need 30 minutes, thing is not simple as compliment or move to another department. The manager has to always steer clear with them to make sure it is not going any further. If necessary to criticize, try to encourage them first when ask them to speed up their work. Another choice for the boss is let them choose and wait to see how it works with their own decision.
Turn a lazy employee into a hardworking is totally possible, which depends on manager’s method and company.
